The village of Banon, built on the slope of a hill, is famous thanks to the eponymous cheese, protected by the AOC (controlled designation of origin). Nowadays the bookstore “le Bleuet” adds a cultural dimension to this traditional village.
Wandering in the medieval part of the village, you will discover the remains of the fortifications, 14th century machicolated gate, square shaped tower, houses of the “rue des Arcades”, the high church that welcomes various exhibitions and concerts all year round.

Overlooked by its immense rotunda, shaped like a crusader’s helmet, cobbled streets, doors of wealthy houses, are the traces of a rich history and an intense activity between the 15th and 18th centuries.
